Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Plainsight (helpinplainsight.com)

Draft — not yet in effect. This document is a starting draft pending completion of the bracketed details and a licensed-attorney review. It is provided for transparency and should not be relied on until finalized.

1.Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Plainsight, a website and tool operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL ENTITY](“Plainsight,” “we,” “us”). By using Plainsight, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2.What Plainsight is — and is not

Plainsight is an informational and educational tool. It uses artificial intelligence to read a document you provide and explain, in plain language, what it appears to say, what may work against you, options people in similar situations commonly consider, and when you should seek a professional.

Plainsight is not a law firm, is not a lawyer, and is not a medical or financial professional. Nothing Plainsight produces is legal, medical, tax, or financial advice, and using Plainsight does not create an attorney–client, clinician–patient, or any other professional relationship between you and Plainsight. We do not represent you, advocate for you, or act on your behalf, and we never file or send anything for you.

Plainsight gives you information to help you act for yourself and tells you when to get a qualified professional. For advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney or other professional in your jurisdiction. If a matter has a deadline, money, or your rights at stake, do not rely on Plainsight alone.

3.Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Plainsight. By using the service you represent that you meet these requirements.

4.How AI affects accuracy (read this)

Plainsight is designed to be honest: it is built to refuse to invent facts, and it will not state a specific amount, date, deadline, statute, or citation that it cannot ground in the document you provide. That design reduces errors — but it does not eliminate them. AI systems can misread, omit, or misjudge. Laws, deadlines, and rights vary by jurisdiction and change over time.

You are responsible for reviewing every output and verifying anything you rely on — including against the document itself and, where it matters, with a qualified professional. Any reply or letter Plainsight drafts is a starting draft you own: you must read it, complete it, correct it, and decide whether and how to send it yourself.

5.Your responsibilities and acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • use Plainsight for any unlawful purpose, or to harm, harass, or defraud anyone;
  • upload content you have no right to share, or that contains another person's sensitive information without a lawful basis;
  • represent Plainsight's output as professional advice, or hold yourself out as an attorney based on it;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or bypass the security or rate limits of the service;
  • resell or commercially redistribute the service without our written permission.

6.Privacy and your documents

Your privacy is central to how Plainsight works. We process the document you provide only to generate your analysis, and our practices are described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. Do not upload information you are not permitted to share.

7.Fees

Understanding your document is, and is intended to remain, free. If we ever charge for an optional feature (such as drafting assistance), the price will be disclosed before you pay and, consistent with our charter, any fee is flat and never changes what the tool tells you. The substance of an analysis is never gated behind a payment.

8.Intellectual property

You keep all rights to the documents and text you provide. We claim no ownership of your content. The Plainsight name, site, design, and software belong to us and are protected by law; these Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the service for your own purposes. The analysis we generate for you is yours to use for your own matter.

9.Disclaimer of warranties

Plainsight is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your situation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you use Plainsight at your own risk.

10.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [OPERATOR LEGAL ENTITY] and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or reliance on — Plainsight or its output, including any decision you make or action you take or fail to take. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

11.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [OPERATOR LEGAL ENTITY] and its operators from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

12.Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in [STATE] will have jurisdiction over any dispute not otherwise resolved, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Nothing here waives any non-waivable consumer right you have.

13.Changes to the service or these terms

We may update the service or these Terms. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
